First, we stopped in Holland, Michigan for a visit with my family and Aaron got a chance to play in the sand:
Jill got to meet Great Grandma for the first time:
And Aaron got to hang out with some of his second cousins, including Paige, who may be a member of his band someday:
From Holland, we drove to Muskegon, where we caught a ferry across Lake Michigan:
Then, it was a four-hour drive north before we reached our destination. A pit stop at Burger King for Aaron's first happy meal helped to break up the trip:

And Jill came along for her first boat ride too!

We stopped for some swimming on the sandbar off of Strawberry Island.

Aaron loved playing with all the toys that Nana keeps up there.
Having some downtime at the lake (not to mention the extra helping hands), allowed us to get a lot of quality time with our baby girl. She has started smiling and showing us more and more of her personality, and we felt like we really got the chance to get to know her even better on the trip:

Mommy and Daddy even got some time to spend with each other, kid-free, while Nana and Papa babysat. No trip to Lac du Flambeau would be complete without a visit to the casino:

But then I lost it all on "Kitty Glitter."
And then it was time to go home. On the way home, Aaron showed us some of the knowledge that he picked up from reading nursery rhymes with Nana (sorry it's a little shaky):
All in all, a successful first trip with the kiddos. Hopefully the first of many to come!
