Two!

Aaron turned two years old last week!  And what amazing, joyful, and hilarious years they have been.  We celebrated with presents and cake/cupcakes on his actual birthday, and then he got to celebrate again the following weekend when the family came over for more presents and cake.  Two parties for our two-year old!  (We may be setting a dangerous precedent...)

Waking up on the morning of his birthday.  Does he look older?

First he opened some presents for breakfast.

Then, his buddy Joseph came over for a birthday playdate.

For lunch, he got a special cake from Dora.

He hasn't quite gotten the hang of holding up two fingers...

But who cares?  He's perfectly capable of telling us how old he is!

Happy birthday sweet boy!

The following weekend, we had a small family gathering to celebrate.

Aaron loved hanging out with his cousins.

Jill did too!

This is how excited Nate was about Aaron's birthday.

Opa gave Aaron a special birthday candle from India.  It was quite a production: it started off with one large flame that unfolded into several smaller ones like a flower.  It also played the happy birthday song on repeat...until we finally smashed it to shut it up.

At first, Aaron was a little unnerved by the potential fire hazard.

Once he realized there was no real threat, he eagerly blew out the flames.

Oh yeah, it's my birthday!

Jill got her first taste of frosting.  Big fan.

And of course, Aaron got to open a few presents.

Happy birthday Aaron Christopher.  You are loved more than you can possibly imagine!
