We started off Easter weekend by going up to Oma and Opa's lake in Michigan. It was a beautiful day, and such a great way to get our kids out of the concrete jungle and into some fresh air:
Aaron loved helping Opa bring gear to the lakefront.
He also got a fishing lesson from Dad.
Success! Although he wasn't quite ready to hold it.
Jill was so excited to go out on the dock she tried to jump off!
And the whole family enjoyed the sunshine up in the treehouse.
We spent Easter Sunday with my family in South Bend, going to my parents' church and then back to their house for the rest of the day. We were joined by some of our extended family from Michigan, including Aunt Christy and Ben, Aunt Pam and Aunt Bobbie, and the guest of honor, Great Grandma Hietbrink, who is 93 years young!
Aaron got to do a little Easter egg hunt while Jill took a nap. He was pretty excited about all the candy he collected:
Afterward, he helped Oma put together "birds' nests" -- made up of peanut butter chow mein, green-dyed coconut, jelly beans, and peeps.
Since our Jilly bean can't really play with jelly beans, which are a choking hazard, she just crawled around on the floor and looked cute:
And then it was time for family pictures, which are always an adventure with two little ones:
To say Aaron was unenthusiastic would be an understatement.
This was his "smile."
When Oma told him to "look up" at the camera, he looked up at the sky.
Little stinker.
So Mom had to step in...
...and show him who was boss.
