Aaron is six!

Aaron turned six years old yesterday!  It's surreal that six whole years have gone by since this sweet boy first made us parents.  In so many ways, he is still our baby: he still sleeps with his blankie, needs me to sing to him at night, and loves to sit on my lap when I'm reading him a story.  But at the same time, he barely fits on my lap, his sharp elbows and lanky legs make cuddling a bit tricky, and he's really into fart jokes.

And speaking of fart jokes, the theme for Aaron's birthday party this year was Captain Underpants.  We invited a handful of his classmates over to the house to watch the Captain Underpants movie and have some pizza and cupcakes.

The birthday boy.

The supportive sister.

If you're thinking these decorations look suspiciously similar to Aaron's Octonauts birthday party two years ago, you'd be right.  I am a one trick pony through and through.

Cute Captain Underpants popcorn boxes.

Doing some underpants-themed art projects before the movie starts.

Let's get this show on the road.

Better than iMax?

Pizza tastes better when there's a theme.

So do cupcakes!

Danny can definitely vouch for the cupcakes.

A special cupcake for the birthday boy.

Happy birthday to Aaron!

Looking like angels.

Acting like Kindergarteners.

On his actual birthday, which also happened to be the first day back at school after Christmas break, Aaron got some special birthday-boy privileges, like getting to hand out to treats to his classmates and getting to pick the game in gym class.  And that evening, we had a small family celebration, which included a special meal of his choice (Potbelly's), another cupcake with candles, and a few more presents.

So many candles!

His presents included a much-desired hatchimal...

...and a Bulls sweatshirt...

...that he got to wear that night at the Bulls game with Daddy!

All in all, I think it was a good birthday.

Happy birthday to our dear, sweet boy.  We are unbullievably grateful to be your parents and we love you so much!
