Daddy is 40-Something!

Last week was Daddy's first birthday as a Colorado citizen.  So we celebrated like true Colorodans (is that a word?).  On the night of his actual birthday, we met up with friends at New Terrain, one of our favorite breweries -- nestled right in the foothills, just a hop and a skip from Coors, and always replete with food trucks.

Cheers to Daddy!

We sure do love this guy.

The next day the kids were off of school, so we spent the whole day celebrating Daddy in true Colorado style.  We drove up to Golden Gate Canyon State Park, where we soaked up the blue skies and sunshine, tried our hand at mountain fishing, and went for a long hike.

That's some backdrop.

Didn't catch anything...

...but they're getting pretty good at casting.

That's the continental divide in the background.

We ended up hiking a little further than we expected, but the kids were troopers!

Finally, despite the challenges of high-altitude baking, we made Daddy's favorite coconut cake.  It came out a little dryer than at sea level, but no one seemed to mind.

I think more coconut ended up in Danny's mouth than on the cake.

Happy mile-high birthday, Daddy!
