Daddy turned 40-something!! To celebrate (or, perhaps, by coincidence), we spent a weekend at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch yurts in Granby with a bunch of friends.
Yurt with a view.
Not sure if they are snuggling the birthday boy, or beating him up.
Yurts make them goofy.
The playground nearby has a ton of fun equipment, including a zipline.
But the kids spent most of their time back in the woods...
...building and decorating their fort.
They even built a "blacksmith shop" where they sharpened their weapons. Gulp.
Pepper came too!
As did various other canine buddies.
No shortage of puppy love here.
We spent some time at the beach. It was too cold to swim...
...but we found ways to entertain ourselves.
And of course, we celebrated Daddy.
His cake managed to survive the bumpy drive from Golden, the extreme temperature swings in the mountains, and a puppy.
Happy birthday Daddy!
Sure do love this guy.
There was enough cake for all!
Among other things, Daddy got some new biking gloves and a cactus (inside joke).
And he got to wear them (the gloves, not the cactus), along with some other birthday flair, on his special birthday bike ride.
Taking in the Fall colors.
Biker boys.
Stopping to take in the view...or catch his breath.
Fall really is a beautiful time to be in the mountains!
In addition to our camping weekend, we also hiked up our own mountain (i.e., North Table) for a little birthday picnic with just our family.
Finding the perfect spot.
Think we found it.
View from the top.
Looking forward to our next trip around the sun with this guy. Happy birthday!
