Aaron is a middle schooler 😧😧😧 WHAT???! We can't quite process how fast he's growing up, but it appears to be happening anyway without our consent.
On his last day of fifth grade, we all walked to school together for the last time. Of all our kids, Aaron is the one who treasured walking together the most. He wasn't embarrassed to hold my hand and (almost) never wanted to walk ahead with friends or ride his bike. He has such a sweet and loving heart. We will miss these walks next year!

That evening, he attended his fifth-grade "continuation" ceremony-- which was 80s-themed (I don't know why). Aaron was chosen as one of two student speakers!

After continuation, there was a big party for all the 5th grade families with food trucks, desserts, games and...
...Aaron's first-ever awkward co-ed dance! And just like every generation that came before them, the girls all rocked out on the dance floor while the boys stood in a group bobbing uncertainly.
As for the adults, we all stood at the outskirts of the room watching and whispering with our arms crossed, shaking our heads in disbelief that we are now the creepy old chaperones we used to make fun of. Adolescence here we come!
