Just getting him dressed was a major feat. And then it was on to the shoot itself. Needless to say, there were a lot of outtakes...
Pretty tough to get this kid to sit still.
But luckily we got a few good shots worthy of the mantel!

Of course, Christmas wouldn't be complete without a visit to Santa, who was conveniently located at the Christkindlmarkt in Daley Plaza. Nana and Papa brought Aaron downtown during lunch on a workday to meet up with Mom and Dad and head to Santa's workshop.
The line was very short and fast, Santa was clearly eager to meet Aaron.
First he charmed Mrs. Claus...
...and then he handily won over the big, jolly man himself. No tears!
Mommy, Daddy, Nana, and Papa wanted to meet Santa too.
And we followed the visit up with a tasty lunch at Sopraffina.

When the time finally came to open gifts, Aaron's favorite part was being surrounded by family and friends. He was a pretty lucky boy this year. He got to have several different Christmases:
First he got to celebrate with his beloved nanny, Dora.
Next came Christmas with the Vander Griends and the Hietbrinks.
And then it was off to celebrate with the Hjelmgrens and the Broyles. Aaron especially loved following around his big cousins, Nate and Alyssa (and sometimes stealing their toys)!
All in all, it was a wonderful holiday. Chris and I agreed that it was our favorite Christmas yet. Everything is more wondrous and joyful when you can experience it through the eyes of your child. We feel so blessed! And as for Aaron...let's just say his play area is a little more exciting than it was a few weeks ago!
Who says first-born children are spoiled?!
