Ode to the Smiths

Some of our very dear friends, the Smith family, are moving to Denver.  We're not quite sure what we will do without them.  Aaron and Jill adore their daughter Adah.  And we had high hopes that Danny might fall in love with their daughter Lucy (who is only 10 days younger than him) so that we could be in-laws someday.  To say goodbye, our whole small group spent some time at my parents' lake over Labor Day weekend, which was the Smiths' last weekend in town.

Jill and Adah are the same age and they share a spunk and fearlessness that has made them fast friends.  They were the only two brave enough to hold the small garter snake that we found near the water's edge.

And Danny and Lucy apparently share an aversion for the swing.

Aaron and Jill took Adah for a hike through the woods and showed her the gnome.  Rumor has it that if you kiss the gnome, it grants wishes.  But I'm pretty sure the kids blew it and wished for candy instead of asking for the Smiths to stay...

These little rascals had a blast splashing around in the oasis and getting the mommies all wet.

Not a single kid looking at the camera.

Best of luck with your new adventures in Denver, Smith family!  We miss you!
