Having a Fall!

Fall is in full swing in Golden.  Here are pics from some of the fun activities we packed in to the season:

Anderson Farms - Aaron, Jill, and I made another trip to Anderson Farms with some of the Mitchell families (Danny opted out).  Last year, a tornado had wiped out a bunch of the fields and made the pickins' a bit slimmer.  This year, there as more variety, and we even got to pick some ears of "popping corn" to make popcorn with at home. (Did you know it's a different kind of corn than regular corn?  Cuz I sure didn't).

Wild West Oktoberfest - We went to Oktoberfest in downtown Golden where we enjoyed bull rides, beer, and fake mustaches.

Homecoming - Jill and I went to the Golden homecoming parade.  The boys weren't interested, but Jill remembered they throw candy to kids in the crowd so she was all in.  Also, a bunch of her friends were there.

Miller Farms - Not to be confused with Anderson Farms, Miller Farms is not an actual working farm.  It's just a bunch of kid-friendly activities and a big pumpkin patch.  To be honest, this might be our last year going to this kind of thing since the kids thought they might be too old for it.  So we really savored their amazing kettle corn, just in case it's the last time...

Gardening - Speaking of pumpkins, Aaron grew one of his own in our garden!

Yard Work - In addition to gardening, the kids also helped with raking and bagging leaves.  Sure is nice having some extra hands to do the heavy lifting!

Fall Break Vacation - During the kids' Fall Break, we went to Winter Park with a bunch of friends and stayed in the Hills' beautiful mountain house.  There were a lot of fun times, games, kids, and dogs.

Football - The boys have been getting into watching Fall sports with Chris.  And "watching the game" is even more fun when you can do it with a projector screen from the hot tub.

Pumpkin Carving - Rather than getting pumpkins from Miller Farms like we did last year, we went the cheap route this year...and got them from Costco.  SO much cheaper and SO much bigger.

Halloween - In addition to the jack-o-lanterns, Jill (our resident "holiday decorations director") insisted that we spiff up our Halloween decorations.  So in addition to the spiders and the clumsy witch from last year, we bought a few ghosts and a graveyard.

Costumes & Candy - Last but not least, the kids put together their costumes to wear to various different parades, including their school costume parade (Aaron's last one, sniff sniff), and of course around the neighborhood on Halloween night.  This year, Aaron was the Fortnite llama, Jill was an explorer riding a tiger, and Danny was a shark.
