The last few weeks before Christmas are always crazy. Lots of holiday shows and rehearsals, school projects, Christmas parties and parades, and last-minute shopping. But then winter break starts, and things slow down. We get to sit around in our pajamas, drink coffee, and sleep in. We get to stop hustling and start hunkering down for the holidays.
The first order of business is always Christmas jammies. This year, Pepper got some too. She was thrilled.
Next comes decorations. For the first time, we had a fake tree (purchased at a discount after the holidays last year, of course). It felt slightly less exciting...but a whole lot easier.
A new tandem ornament, to celebrate Dad's new job.
Nothing fake about these tree-side cuddles.
In the end, a fake tree was probably a better choice given our houseguest. We watched the Spichigers' new puppy, Trufa, for two and a half weeks--and she had a penchant for chewing on all things made of wood. Bad for our furniture, good for our plastic tree.
Puppy pile-up.
Ok there was still some hustling left to do. Jill's dance group performed at the Golden Candlelight Walk.
She stole the show, as usual.
We also went to see other people put on a show (a Christmas Carol) at the new Miners Alley theater. While we were there, Jill ran into her old friend Rory (a.k.a. Santa Claus).
But aside from a few activities, we mostly stuck to Christmas jammies.
And Christmas goofing.
...and the stage was set.
Christmas morning has arrived!
Couldn't ask for a better gift than this crew.
