Daniel Alfred

On April 10, 2015, at 12:49 p.m., Daniel Alfred Broyles joined our family.  His middle name is in honor of my beloved Grandpa Hietbrink, who was the epitome of kindness, generosity, and compassion.  Our hearts are so full!

Danny demonstrated his sweet nature right from the start by sensing how uncomfortable his mom was and coming 4 days before his due date.  Thank you buddy!

We also learned that he apparently had a knot in his umbilical cord, which only happens about 1% of the time, and can be extremely serious if the knot tightens.  Thankfully this knot was loose and did not interfere with his nutrition intake.  But the nurse called him a miracle baby, and Chris and I were once again reminded of what a blessing it is to have a healthy baby with no complications.

Weighing in at a whopping 10 lbs 3 oz and measuring 22 inches long!  This means I am at 100% accuracy in guessing the gender of my children without the help of an ultrasound.  I knew it was a boy.  And a big one too!

Love at first sight.

First cuddle with my sweet boy.

First hugs from Daddy.

Taking it all in

The day after Daniel's birth, it was time for him to meet his siblings, who had been anxiously awaiting his arrival.

I gave him a quick pep talk before the excitement

First meeting

Aaron kept telling baby Daniel that he loved him over and over and both kids gave him lots of kisses.

Then everyone took turns holding the baby.

Party of five!

Marveling at our little man

We also got some great shots from the hospital photographer. You'll see some of these again on Danny's birth announcement!

The sibling shots are, of course, our favorites.

After all the excitement, it was time to take our little smurf home with us (note that I was so sure it was a boy that the outfit was blue!).  Welcome to our family little Daniel!  We love you so very much.
