When Daddy's Away, The Kids Will Play!

Last week, Daddy had to go to Lithuania for work and I was home alone with the kids.  Since Daddy is usually the fun and spontaneous one, I had to step up my game to fill in the gap!  And although we were all very happy to have him back last Sunday, I think we managed to rack up a few good times while he was away.

There was the time we went to the North Park Nature Center and hiked the nature trail.  At snack time, the kids had a dozen picnic tables to choose from, so of course they chose the one that was flipped upside down.

There was the time we biked to Lincoln Square (Danny in the bike seat, Aaron and Jill in the trailer, and Mommy huffing and puffing up front) where we got pizzas as big as our heads from the farmer's market and met up with friends to listen to live music.

There was the time we went to the pet store and the kids got to see some hamsters and birds, and most importantly, pick out a new collar and tag for Rizzo.

And probably most exciting of all, there was the time we went to Legoland and did everything inside at least twice (Chris actually requested that we do this while he was away, haha)!

Aaron was thrilled to learn that there are real "master builders" who work at Legoland and their only job is to build new things out of Legos.  I'd say he already has a strong resume.

So I guess Mommy is capable of being fun and spontaneous too!  Well, maybe not spontaneous since I bought the tickets to Legoland a month ago...
