Two weeks ago, we went up to Lac du Flambeau to spend the weekend with Chris's family at his parents' lake house in northern Wisconsin. The kids always look forward to getting out of the city, getting out on the water, and bonding with their cousins.
I would say the bulk of our time up there was spent out on the boat, mostly fishing, but also learning how to steer, and just generally enjoying the wind in our hair.
This might be my favorite picture from the weekend.
Even when we weren't on the boat, we still tried to be out on the water as much as possible.
And when we weren't on the water, we were right next to it on the dock.
This is my other favorite picture from the weekend.
Thanks to sporadic rain clouds, we occasionally had to leave the water and hang out indoors. But we had plenty of board games, books, and cousins to keep us occupied!
On our last night there, we celebrated with a big bonfire that the kids helped to build (and threw just about everything they could find into). Then they found some good roasting sticks and we had some s'mores (except for Danny, who just stuffed his mouth with marshmallows and Hershey bars).
'Til next year!
